ルーシー（ダコタ・ジョンソン）は、ニューヨークの結婚相談所で“マッチメーカー”として働いている。天性の婚活カウンセラーと絶賛され、仕事一筋の彼女は、恋愛を感情だけでなく資産価値でも冷静に判断するマテリアリスト（物質主義者）である。そんな彼女がマッチングさせたカップルの結婚式で、新郎の兄ハリー（ペドロ・パスカル）と出会う。身長180cmのリッチな投資家で、家柄も人柄も一流、すべてが完璧な彼から情熱的なアプローチを受ける。一方、その披露宴でウェイターをしていた元カレのジョン（クリス・エヴァンス）とも再会する。ルーシーとジョンは互いに愛し合っていたが、俳優を目指してバイトを転々とする彼との貧乏生活に耐えられずに破局したのだった。ハリーとの真剣交際に踏み出したルーシーだったが、夢を諦めないジョンへの想いも再燃する。そんななか、クライアントがある事件に巻き込まれ、ルーシーは仕事も恋愛も転機を迎えることに……。

The thing that stood out like a sore thumb was the painfully obvious rigid acting from the main actress- a poor casting decision for the lead. Her voice fell flat and she didn’t really have any believable on-screen chemistry with either Evans or Pascal. The plot was predictable and is essentially a rehash of a cliche romcom storyline that has been told a thousand times before. Compared to Past Lives, this storytelling feels like five steps backwards and isn’t as progressive, moving or meaningful as what the script leads you to believe. The first 30min of the film also had very clunky dialogue with poor rhythm almost to the point that it felt like ChatGPT wrote the lines. The ending felt like a fairytale ending but without the fairytale if you know what I mean. All in all it was a subpar film that was mainly carried by a couple of good cinematographic shots and Evans’ charisma.

보통 연인 과 의 관계에서 사랑이 제일 중요하다 말하지만 결국 그외의 것 이 필요한 것 처럼 이 영화 또한 부연 설명 이 필요함
