フロリダ。成績優秀でレスリング部のスター選手として活躍する高校生のタイラー（ケルヴィン・ハリソン・ジュニア）は、厳格な父ロナルド（スターリング・Ｋ・ブラウン）との間に距離を感じながらも、恵まれた家庭に育ち、何不自由ない生活を送っていた。そんなある日、肩の負傷が発覚し、医師から選手生命の危機を告げられる。追い打ちをかけるように、恋人アレクシス（アレクサ・デミー）の妊娠が発覚。狂い始めた人生の歯車に翻弄され、自分を見失っていくタイラー。そしてある夜、タイラーと家族の運命を変える決定的な悲劇が起こる。1年後、心を閉ざした妹エミリー（テイラー・ラッセル）の前に、すべての事情を知りつつ好意を寄せるルーク（ルーカス・ヘッジズ）が現れる。ルークの不器用な優しさに触れるうち、自分が抱えていた怒りや悲しみと向き合い始めるエミリー。だが、ルークも同じように心に大きな傷を抱えていた。互いの傷ついた心をいたわるように恋に落ちる2人。そして未来に向けて歩き出すため、ある決断を下す……。

The first part might be just too aggressive but let me get into the movie better the second part of the movie is just everything I love the chemistry bonding between emily and luke Also taylor russel oh shes so majestic her voice And love the cinematography love the sound tracks they really used two diff modes for that two diff parts Watched it twice and made me fall into it even deeper

waves is the perfect name for this film, i’ve realized. at first i thought the transition between the two halves was a bit heavy handed, but idc the emotional heart of this movie did more for me than any editing choice could, and i think that’s what matters to me more anyways, I’ve never been this thoroughly beaten into an emotional pulp like this before, so i think this movie will need a few days + a rewatch.
