ジョージア州陸軍マッカラム基地。陸軍ＣＩＤ（犯罪捜査部）のポール（ジョン・トラヴォルタ）は、基地内で全裸死体で発見された女性大尉エリザベス・キャンベル（レスリー・ステファンソン）の事件の捜査にあたる。彼女は時期副大統領候補の有力者キャンベル将軍（ジェームズ・クロムウェル）のひとり娘。レイプの痕跡はなかったが、頬にはなぜか涙の跡が。ポールは元恋人でレイプ専門の捜査官サラ（マデリーン・ストウ）とコンビを組まされて捜査を進めるうち、残されたビデオテープから才色兼備だったエリザベスが実は基地内のほとんどの男と寝ていたという隠された事実を知る。だが、サラが何者かに襲撃を受け、容疑者と目された彼女の上司のムーア大佐（ジェームズ・ウッズ）も自殺を遂げ、捜査にも圧力を加えられるなど、事態は不可解な展開をみせる。かくしてポールはエリザベスが殺された真の秘密を探るべく、背後にひそむ陰謀に立ち向かうのだった。

To be honest, the director Simon West kind of disappointed me with his movie "The General's Daughter" despite having so many twists and turns that led to a message and social commentary of women in the army getting completely lost which disappointed me because I wished for more focus.

I felt that this movie was shot poorly. The story did not flow perfectly and there was not much happening at most parts of the movie. The actors did not really portray their characters perfectly but it gives a good thrill here and there. Overall, I would not pick this movie intentionally on a night in.

I saw it twice and liked it vastly more the second time around, when I'd adjusted my expectations and had my bearings from the get-go. Then it became about digging the spectacle - not to mention the hilarious sexual politics.
