台北。一流ホテルの名シェフだったチュ氏（郎雄）は、男手一つで3人の娘を育ててきた。長女のチアジェン（楊貴媚）は高校の教師、次女のチアチエン（呉倩蓮）は、航空会社に勤めるキャリア・ガール、三女のチアニン（王渝文）は、アルバイトに忙しい大学生。日曜日には家族全員が集まり、豪華な特製料理を囲むのが一家の習慣だったが、娘たちはこの晩餐が重荷で、ある日曜日、味にうるさい次女は父の味覚が衰えたと非難する。コックになりたかった彼女は、父に女には無理と道を絶たれたことを今でも恨んでいた。そんな折、小学生の娘と二人暮らしの隣人・チンロン（張艾嘉）の母で、未亡人のリャンおばさん（歸亞蕾）が米国から帰国。父のよい話相手になるのではと期待する三姉妹にも恋の季節がやってくる。

A tranquil tale of life, family and love intricately woven around food. The weight of a secretly structured plot never seems to bear a consequence on the seeming innocuousness of the movie. Characters and relationships built so authentic, that on a surface level seem effortless even though the opposite is the case. Subverting genre expectations to present a brand new blend of old and new ideas about the human condition.
