데스노트를 인간세계에 잃어버린 뒤 갖가지 일들을 겪었던 사신 류크에게, 다른 사신이 그 재미난 경험들에 대해 묻는다. 다시 한번 라이토,그리고 L과 함께 했던 인간계에서의 지난 일들을 회상하게 되는 류크. 시리즈 본편의 영상들을 토대로 하여 류크의 시각에서 다시한번 이야기를 전개시켜주는 축약판 성격의 작품이지만, 단순히 축약판으로 본다면 큰 오산. 영상 곳곳에 오리지널과는 다른 새로운 영상이 추가되어 완전결착 만의 해석을 가미하고 있는 <데스노트>시리즈와 같으면서도 다른 또 하나의 <데스노트> 작품이다.

This might be one of the most brilliant thriller/detective shows ever. This anime shows that anime, despite being anime, can be just as captivating as live action shows. I feel like anime gets a bad rep, which sucks. But anytime I find someone who thinks anime is childish or stupid, I tell them to watch this show. Death Note is one of the most mature shows that deals with death and deception. It also constantly keeps you on your toes, never knowing what is going to happen next. I will say the second half of the season is not great, but watch it for the first half because there is no better cat and mouse show on television.
