이렇게 재미없는 영화가 이 정도의 충격과 여운을 길게 남길 수 있다는 것이 진심으로 감탄스럽다. 어떠한 극적인 연출도 없고, 지루한 일상을 보여줄 뿐, 관객의 감정을 자극하는 장면은 단 한개도 없는데 영화를 보며 느꼈던 무겁고 불쾌한 느낌이 다음날인 지금까지 지속된다. 관객에게 생각할 거리를 던져주는 영화. 특히 엔딩크레딧 배경음악은 살면서 들어본 배경음악 중에 제일로 무서움 진짜 무서움

This movie was a true puzzle, with clues so obvious yet the family in this entire film was oblivious to any horrific price of evidence indicating the terrors of their next door neighbours. The story telling devices, artistry, and style of implications was just so complex and amazing. The family’s subconscious submission to the Nazi instinct was so shocking, but to them it wasn’t unnoticed. The way of far away still shots made sure to tell a story of the true unawareness people have when chaos is happening just next to them (literally); no attachment to characters, barely backstory, just behaviour.

행복해 보이는 풍경과 그렇지 못한 소리가 내 속을 뒤집어 놓았다. 또한 내가 이렇게 편안하게 있는 동안, 이 지구 어딘가에는 비슷한 슬픔이 일어나고 있다고 일침을 놓는 것 같다.

man i’m kicking myself for not seeing this in theaters — the score would have added much more to the overall experience, i think. this film was more of a series of impressions rather than one cohesive story, and i’m not sure if i enjoyed it as a storytelling device or not. overall, it felt like there were some pieces i was supposed to put together, i just didn’t get all of it the first time. i’ll definitely be rewatching bc i don’t think i got enough the first watch
