정말 잘 만든 영화이다. 특별히 영국을 좋아하신다면 이영화를 좋아하실 것이다.

한줄평: 환경이 사람을 만들지만, 사람도 사람을 만든다. . . . 다운사이징으로 썩어버린 내 눈과 귀를 치유하기 위해 고른 영화다. 평도 괜찮았고 예전부터 여러 사람으로 부터 나름 추천을 받았기에 안심을 하고 영화를 봤다. 캐릭터 설정, 스토리, 연출 모두 좋은 영화였다. 나오는 중심 캐릭터들이 모두 이해가 되고 특히 언어치료사 캐릭터는 정말 매력적이었다. 조지 6세의 부인도 매우 매력적으로 나왔다. 영화가 말하는 바인 '환경이 사람을 만들지만 사람도 사람을 만든다.' 란 점도 정말 잘 표현했고 실화를 바탕으로 해서 무리하지 않고 잔잔하게 마무리 한점도 참 맘에 들었다. 오랜만에 볼만한 영화를 본거 같아 기쁘다 ☺

Often accused of being "boring", I found this film anything but dull. It has an incredible back story and explores the realm of the powerful. It has historical roots and manages to turn what would be considered a boring story into something engaging to a wide audience.

A great film and performance by Colin Firth. One of the films that made me really enjoy film and want to start directing films. The period piece does a great job of subverting the genre in a way that is rare. It flips the conservative and somewhat stuck-up British parliament tendencies unto itself by exposing its main character’s weakness, public speaking. It shows what is causing his anxiety and fear in a sympathetic way that allows audiences to sympathize even those in power for simply being human, too.

This is a truly amazing story that I had really never heard before, despite being British! It is also one of Colin Firth's best acting pieces that he's been in, playing a slightly exasperated and frustrated King of England, who was never meant to be King at all, and so lacks the confidence in his won abilities following WW2. The unlikely friendship that forms between the speech therapist and the King is also quite fun to watch since the King can speak about private matters to the therapist, and he gives honest answers back. The film culminates in a speech that leaves the audience feeling almost proud of everything the King managed to accomplish.
