I think this is a movie worth watching. I enjoyed the old music and it is a fantastic coming of age movie. I am not a big disco fan but the use of it in this movie does tie things together. I also did not expect this movie to be full of drama that talks about serious, real issues but it does help the movie along.

John Badham's "Saturday Night Fever" was a very vibrant romance story, brimming with drama. The music and soundtrack gives a nod to the disco genre, dominated by the Bee Gees'. You cannot help but want to buy your own bell-bottom trousers and go with the flow in this guilty pleasure movie. Despite this fun exterior, the plot focuses on the restlessness and ruthless violence of New York City. The performance from John Travolta is probably one of his most underrated and barely recognised performances. Maybe the social commentary in the movie would have been better accepted and appreciated by contemporary audiences.

Although this movie is pretty old, I consider it a classical type of movie. It still draws you in with its thriller methods and it is still pretty interesting to even this date. I highly recommend this movie because it can give you a perspective that you won’t see nowadays.
