도시 변두리의 삼류영화관 매점 점원이면서 매표원인 강정자는 서른을 넘긴 노처녀다. 오늘은 맞선 볼 남자가 방문하기로 약속한 날이다. 한가하고 지루한 영화관에서 그는 얼굴도 모르는 남자를 기다린다. 그런데 극장 앞을 한 사내가 지나가고 여자는 무작정 따라간다. 거리에는 비가 내리고 그녀는 온 몸이 젖는다. 하지만 사내를 놓치고 극장으로 돌아와 보니 한 남자가 비에 젖은 가발을 털고 있다. 그리고 그 사내가 바로 그녀가 하루종일 기다렸던 남자였다. (Jeong-ja isn’t especially pretty or talented. She’s an old maid in her thirties who works at the ticket booth of a theater on the outskirts of town. It’s a hot summer’s day, and because Jeong-ja cannot take time off from her job, she waits for her blind date at the theater ticket booth all day long. But the date does not show up. She follows a handsome stranger who comes out of the theater. At that moment, there’s a thunderstorm. The man disappears and Jeong-ja returns to the theater, drenched and there, she finds her blind date waiting for her.)
