The writers did an amazing job of developing the characters outside of vampire diaries while still keeping it tied together. The main characters of "The Originals" starred in the later episodes of "Vampire Diaries" and stole the show. fchen313.0The Originals is based off one of the vampire families in The Vampire Diaries and is one of the reasons I watched Season 1. However, I found it not nearly as interesting as Vampire Diaries and pretty slow. The acting is good but none of the main characters are really very attractive (they are in Vampire Diaries) and the plot line is just okay.
