「本がつなげる恋物語」がきっかけで文庫を手にとる。 本を先に読んでたせいか、その世界観は2割ほどしか表現できていない感。1時間半ほどしかない時点でお察し。 二人のやり取り、フランクがどれほどハンフに会えることを待ち侘びていたか切実さに欠ける描写。（ハンフの思わせぶりな態度が書籍からは伺える） カメラ目線を通して二人の会話を擬似再現させているのはなんとセンスのないこと。映画としてはあまりにもお粗末。チャーリングクロス通り周辺の描写も少なく、せっかくロンドンに訪れる彼女の楽しみがごっそり削られている。 その反面、エリザベス女王の戴冠式やチャーチル元首相の就任など、映像で当時の雰囲気を感じられるのはよかった。 all mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated; God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice; but God's hand is in every translation, and his hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again, for that library where every book shall lie open to one another;
